Mr. Lennox-Boyd: Her Majesty's Government and the European Commission were among the first to respond to the Crisis in Somalia with the provision of food and non-food emergency assistance.

I was visiting the Kenya-Somalia border when there was a Crisis in Somalia.

This House, the media and the whole country have been rightly focused on this issue, but is the Prime Minister aware that aid agencies are reporting that as a result of that focus there has been a lack of public awareness of the humanitarian Crisis in Somalia, and as a consequence lower donations to relief funds?

In addition to relieving the humanitarian Crisis in Somalia, we must also recognise that resilience and the efforts to address food security as a strategic priority in the medium to long term underpin all our efforts, even in the humanitarian response, in Kenya and Uganda, where famine has not been declared.

The House will be familiar with many of the risks, so I will not list them in detail, but just one aspect of the Crisis in Somalia brings home the problem dramatically.
