Relationships have throughout a long period been satisfactory and the machinery for conciliation and arbitration has been a model as compared with some industries; and over a long period, I might say almost 2031 half a century, there has never been really a national Crisis in the Iron and Steel Industry, which is due, I believe, largely to the good relationships that have existed generally between master and man.

I do not blame the present Crisis in the Iron and Steel Industry as being something peculiar to that industry.

Ministers held a general discussion on the Commission's proposals for internal measures and external arrangements to combat the Crisis in the Iron and Steel Industry in 1980.

Ministers are also expected to consider Community measures to combat the Crisis in the Iron and Steel Industry in 1980; arrangements for the next phase of the EEC/Cyprus association agreement; proposals for the annual review of Community staff pay and a Commission report on the outcome of the negotiations with the Council for Mutual Economic Aid.
