One fact which stands out clearly in the history of those four years is the absolute failure of this country to support itself in a Crisis of That Magnitude, despite the splendid effort that was made and despite the enthusiasm of the Prime Minister of that day, the right hon. Member for Carnarvon Boroughs (Mr. Lloyd George).

We should spell out to the country in this debate the hardship, the constraints and the difficulties which will inevitably follow should a Crisis of That Magnitude occur.

Does the Prime Minister agree that the only way in which to challenge a Crisis of That Magnitude is to start to work with our European colleagues at the heart of a united Europe, and will he take this final opportunity to welcome in and provide a home for 3,000 unaccompanied children, as recommended by Save the Children?
