I entirely recognise the liberality and generosity of many of the Scotch landlords, which they nobly showed in the Crisis of the Cattle Plague, and on other occasions; but it is not advantageous, on the contrary it is injurious, to the landlords, to the soil, and to the country, for landlords to take tenants who require indulgence—tenants without adequate capital.
