Some of the statements appear to go directly against the interests, not only of the Government, but of the country in a Crisis of This Character, and until some method is found whereby the other side of the case can be stated, it will be impossible for the Government to expect from us a continuance of that solid support which we have endeavoured to give during the whole period of the War.
Does he think in an international Crisis of This Character, when the whole fate of the world and the sanctity attaching to Treaties are in the balance, that the British Empire is to be a mere spectator and leave it to Yugoslavia or Czechoslovakia to carry the burden and heat of the day?
I suggested to the political leaders outside the Government that all political parties should, in a Crisis of This Character, join to work to this end.
