No doubt this appeared to be and was a most patriotic suggestion in the light of the General Oil Crisis and the general energy crisis, yet it is well known by another Government Department - and certainly well known by the factory inspectors - that heating oils to the temperatures required in boring a cylinder block causes an increase in the cancer-producing properties of the oil.
