It would be futile to argue that there has been no improvement since the Shattering World Crisis of 1931, but it would be equally futile not to ascertain to what extent that has been due to the removal of the prime causes of the great depression, and to what extent to new factors, which not only may be temporary, but themselves may actually contribute to greater difficulties in the future.
