We cannot here, at this late hour, go into the question of his marriage or the particular circumstances of his family, but I am informed that it was known that he was on leave, and the only point I want to make clear to-night, before I go into the letter which the hon. Gentleman is going to submit to me, is that he returned to his duty at the Timeof Crisis, at a time when His Majesty's Government expected all their representatives abroad to be at their posts, and there was no question of any dereliction of duty in the crisis on the part of this representative of His Majesty's Government abroad.
