The previous Government's incompetent handling of the teachers' pension fund helped to cause the Crisis in Teacher Numbers.

My Lords, however well intentioned the Government's plans, given the present Crisis in Teacher Numbers where will the teachers come from to provide literacy classes?

The Department is not the solution to the Crisis in Teacher Numbers; it is the main cause of the problem.
