The glut, and the fall in prices consequent upon that glut, have had the usual anomalous effect of a Glut Crisis of further increasing the amount of supply, and not of diminishing it.

There are coal stocks mounting up so that industry, which has been faced with shortage for so many years, is now facing a Crisis of Glut directly as the result of the failure of industry to expand.
