We want a Europe that deals with the Migrant Crisis and the humanitarian crisis in the Mediterranean.

I will come later in my remarks to the persecution of the Rohingya in Burma, which is what is driving the Migrant Crisis.

What is the Minister's view of sanctions given the Migrant Crisis we have seen over the past few weeks?

It is now over nine months since the Migrant Crisis started at Calais, and things are not getting any better for travellers, hauliers, the people of Calais or, indeed, for those individuals who have been trafficked there.

Does my right hon. Friend agree that citing the possibility that hundreds of millions of people may be on the move as an argument against taking our fair share from the Current Migrant Crisis is dishonest and an argument for doing very little, possibly nothing at all?

It must be remembered that, far from being the chosen or favoured destination for asylum seekers, Britain is by no means on the front line of the Migrant Crisis.

The Ongoing Migrant Crisis, resulting largely from conflicts, means that for many there is little hope of a life that is stable enough to allow them the opportunity to access any education, even if it is available for them.

The Migrant Crisis that is affecting Turkey is the same migrant crisis that is affecting this and every other EU country, and we must all participate in the solution.

I hope the Minister appreciates that, under the pressures exerted by the Migrants Crisis, there is a real desire to go further towards having a complete external border and to go deeper towards having political union.

If there is to be a coherent and sustainable solution to the Migrant Crisis, we must crack down on those who seek to take advantage of people in their time of need.

The benefits to this country will be determined by the people in a referendum in due course, but in this respect they are self-evident: we cannot deal with the Migrant Crisis that is coming into our country without working very closely with our EU partners and, given that seven out of 10 of our principal trading partners are within the EU, we need to be able to exchange goods and services in an efficient way.

Our model and influence may be further harmed by the current policies in Poland and Hungary, and by some of the necessary alliances with certain dictators in west Africa in relation to the Migrant Crisis.

Whatever the outcome next Thursday, the Migrant Crisis is not going to disappear, so it is important that urgent action is taken at EU level and by member states.

Despite the current populist rhetoric to the contrary, this is a challenge to which there are no quick-fix solutions, and we in Britain cannot solve the Migrant Crisis on our own.

Russia's actions have displaced millions more and, in doing so, have played an active role in fuelling the European Migrant Crisis.
